When we talk about race strategies, we’re talking about the routines and processes of getting ready to race. Have we got the right tools for the job? Have we got the right strategy in place for us?
It’s about setting up your routines even as far back as the week leading into an event. For myself, it was all about being prepared a week before hitting the circuit. Drawing on a track map would get me thinking about the corners I would be racing around, and then watching any clips of that circuit online would help me get up to speed. Once I arrived at the track I would like to walk the circuit to get a sense of where to position the kart, look for the rubber lines, opportunities to overtake and so on so that I can program myself into making these things happen.
