The fourth edition of SuperNats week

It’s Sunday in Las Vegas. When names are etched into karting history.
With an opening ceremony, bands playing, nations flags flying and the American anthem playing, you know it’s Super Sunday!
The fields are set for the main events, and with only a morning warm up to dial the Kart in, drivers are now nervously waiting for the final to take place.
If you’re early in the schedule, it leaves little time for the nerves to kick in.
If you’re later in the day you’ll see the highs & lows of other main events take place which can either work for or against you.
With basically double the laps of the heat races, drivers and teams haven’t had a chance to dial the kart in for the longer distance races.
This caught me out on a few occasions having won every heat race then fallen short in the final when the races have gone from 12-25 laps and instead of driving under lights in the cool conditions, the final was in the heat of the day.
Once the build up of the final has taken place, with some classes getting an introduction for the drivers, it’s time to get your game face on for this nothing to lose race.
Unlike many races these days, it’s a one off final that gets you all the accolades. So drivers can put everything on the line in Sin City for the ultimate glory.
Drivers will need to drive smart. Team up with others to either pull a gap on the chasing pack, or to work your way through the field.
If you’re fighting for the lead on the final laps, it’s an all out war!
No one remembers second (as I’ve been told countless times), and there’ll be many hard luck stories across the day.
But be sure. With big prize money & a chance to create history, no one is going to give you the WIN!
After all these years racing the SuperNats, it’s my favourite race on the calendar. After 3 podiums without a win in TAG Senior, I left all the trophies in the USA as I only wanted to bring home a race winning trophy.
With this year being my first attending the race without racing, I’m hoping to achieve success from a coaching aspect.
And who knows, maybe next year I’ll race again and aim to finally bring home a SuperNats trophy.
