THE 3 INVISIBLE HALF TRUTHS STARTING YOUR RACING JOURNEY

HALF-TRUTH #1

I must have a new kart to be successful

As much as a new kart helps on-track performance, a driver still needs to hit the correct apex point, let the kart flow around corners, and not hack at the steering wheel like they’re trying to wrestle the kart.

Yes, starting in a new chassis will eliminate any excuses around your kart’s performance, the best way to learn on track is to make mistakes then learn from them. Drivers can find their limitations in new and second-hand karts, and until you are within half a second of the pace, the driver has a bigger effect on lap performance than chassis.

You need focus on what you can control: yourself. By learning the fundamentals on how to drive a kart fast, this minimises your need to rely on new equipment to yield strong results on track.

HALF-TRUTH #2

I watch racing on TV, it doesn’t look that hard

Anyone can drive a kart around a circuit, but that doesn’t mean everyone can drive quickly, efficiently, and safely. There’s an art to driving a kart: minimal steering inputs, not using both pedals at the same time, knowing the track width and using it all when required, and where to look on a racetrack.

Just because you have seen “Drive to Survive” on Netflix, doesn’t mean it will translate once you put the helmet on, start the engine and race around the track with your backside on 20mm off the tarmac. Things happen a lot faster when you are in control of the kart, but by knowing the correct techniques, you give yourself the best opportunity to progress.

You need to understand that driving a kart isn’t like driving a car. There are specific techniques that work in a kart that don’t in a car!

HALF-TRUTH #3

My kid races online, they must know what they’re doing

Karting isn’t like soccer, basketball, tennis or football where kids can hone their skills and practice in their backyard (well the most of us don’t have a kart track in our yard). Now we are getting them into a sport, at the tender age of 6 in some countries, and they have total control of driving a vehicle more than 100km/h, which is as fast as we drive a car on the freeway! Scary right?!

These kids MUST understand the basics of throttle, braking, steering and what to look for on track, as we are giving them total control and motor racing can be dangerous when not driven correctly!

You need to give your children the right knowledge, to enable them to be safe on circuit for not only themselves, but others also.

IS BEGINNER FOR ME?

Our Beginner Program is not for you if:

Not for you if… You already have an understanding on the fundamentals of racing.

This program teaches how to find the ideal race line, where the apex of a corner is, steering inputs and basic setup knowledge. If you already know how to identify these things, our Beginner Program isn’t for you.

Not for you if… You expect to be on the pace day one

Mastering corners, perfecting your braking zones, knowing where to look on the racetrack, all takes time to understand and then implement. If you think just by watching Formula 1 you should be able to be the fastest on your first outing, then the Beginner program isn’t for you. Trust the process and the rest will take care of itself.

Not for you if… You listen to everyone at the racetrack

When you’re starting out, it’s in your best interest to ask for advice from everyone you see at the racetrack. But the people you’re asking at the track, “do they know what they’re actually talking about?” Now all the sudden, you are lost, as one person is telling you to add grip, while the other person is saying to release grip. You go round and round in circles and are no better off than doing your own thing. These techniques have been developed, honed, and perfected over 25 years of driving. It will take you time and practice to integrate your new skills and convert them into on track success.

If you’re a driver that tries something once and when it doesn’t work, moves onto the next shiny object rather than finding a solution, then this program might not be for you.

The truth is, when you apply these techniques in the right way for YOUR racing, they work…

I’ve supported countless drivers from around the world who have gone on to smash their personal bests and achieve goals they didn’t believe were possible.

The only thing standing between stagnation and success is your ability to stay coachable and doing the work.

Our Beginner Program is for you if:

You’re in the first six months of karting

If you develop bad habits, they are hard to break. By developing the right technique from day one, your progression will be more rapid and less mistakes will creep in.

You accept your driving can be improved.

Whether that be using more of the racetrack, less steering inputs, or consistently hitting your apexes, the willingness to want to learn is the first step to unlocking your full potential.

You want to make a successful career in Motorsport

100% of the current Formula 1 grid started their career in karting as it’s the best opportunity to master your skills and the most affordable. By joining our Beginner Program, you set yourself up earlier to perfect the right techniques that can take you through your motor racing journey.

You have not raced before

Sprint Karting is different to rental karts. The weight, power and handling characteristics are totally different. So just because you beat your mates at a local bucks party, doesn’t mean you’ll be the next Lewis Hamilton when it comes to racing a kart. Starting on a clean slate will allow you to learn more efficiently.

So...

If you’re a driver who wants to learn the correct techniques (from day one) … you need to be a part of our Beginner Program.

If you’re unsure who to listen to at your local kart track, who are guessing more than you… you need to be a part of our Beginner Program.

If you’ve never driven a racing kart before… you need to be a part of our Beginner Program.

If you don’t listen to your parents, but want to learn… you need to be a part of our Beginner Program.

And…

If you want the opportunity to learn from the world’s best karting coaches & give yourself a greater chance of success… you need to be a part of our Beginner Program.

Join us inside our 14 episode program, designed to make your entry into karting as smooth as possible.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When can I join the Beginners Program?

Our Beginners Program is a 14-episode
instructional program
that is accessible anytime. Members will get access
to our video database as well as diagrams, worksheets and E-Books
to print out. So far, we’ve seen drivers start their karting journey with us
from 27 countries!

I’ve just got into karting, when is a good time to join the Beginner Program?

The first time you start something new, this is the
most common time bad habits can arise. By just going to the track to drive
aimlessly, without purpose and understanding areas you need to be fast, you can
fall in a trap of bad habits that are hard to eradicate down the track. Our Beginner
Program
will give drivers a platform to go to the race track themselves
with a purpose on what to work on.

I’m a rental kart champion, is this program suitable for me?

Rental karting and sprint karting are totally
different beasts to drive. One (Rental) has about 10HP with the kart weighing
about 200kg, and the other has upwards of 25HP and 160kg. So things happen
faster in outdoor sprint karting, apexes arise faster, track widths are
different, smoother steering inputs are required, so just because you win races
on a 20 second track, doesn’t mean you won’t learn from our instructional
videos.
