As we start our lap at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati, drivers will approach Turn 1 at high speed from the long straight away. The first corner is a long left hand sweeper that is flat out in all categories bar shifter karts due to their higher top speed. Drivers will want to be smooth through this part of the track as any oversteer will cost you momentum as you approach the braking zone into Turn 2. You don’t need to utilise the inside curbing at turn 1, but you might find yourself using the exit curbing due to the speed being carried through here. Once you’ve exited turn 1, this is the first real passing opportunity. Karts can overtake at turn 1 if they have more momentum, but it might be wiser to wait until the braking zone to get alongside your competitors.
