As cold, difficult & dirty as it can be, driving in the wet weather is a critical factor in motor racing. With the ever changing climate, drivers can be thrown in the deep end with rain falling during an on track session that they then need to adjust their driving to suit the conditions.
Drivers tend to do the bulk of their driving in the dry conditions, where lap times between the front and the back are generally within a second. But when the rain falls, and the track is slippery this can blow out to around four – five seconds off the pace of the leading drivers.
