Leave the competition behind

After our Shifter program, you will feel confident driving, understanding the KZ karts behaviour & learn the fundamentals for a successful career in KZ.

THE 3 INVISIBLE HALF TRUTHS WHEN RACING A SHIFTER KART

HALF-TRUTH #1

I can’t get off the start line

It’s all good and well qualifying at the pointy end to just find yourself losing positions as soon as the lights go out because you struggle to get a shifter kart off the line.

The truth is the standing start presents the best opportunity for a driver to overtake their competition!

You need focus on your starts. By learning the fundamentals on how to get off the start line quickly, this gives you the best chance to overtake your opposition into Turn 1.

HALF-TRUTH #2

Four-wheel and two-wheel braking are the same

Whether it’s two wheels or four wheels slowing you down into a corner, the G forces and race lines required to achieve this will be different.

So many drivers step out of TAG Racing and the first thing they comment on is “My neck is sore from the G forces into the braking zone!”. Drivers are literally struggling to hold their heads up by the end of the day with the sheer braking force. Now if you’re a driver who can’t come to terms with the differences the two presents, you will be losing time at the end of each straight by braking early or softly so it’s comfortable for you.

You need to understand that driving a shifter kart isn’t like driving a TAG kart. There are specific techniques that work in a shifter kart that don’t in an X30!

HALF-TRUTH #3

The carby has a fixed jet, how hard can it be?

Tuning a carburettor in KZ is a delicate process. The main jet, needle position & emulsion tube all play a role in how well the kart goes off the start line, on the exit of a corner and the top speed your kart can be reached.

When drivers and families are spending in some cases $10,000 on an engine and $10 a litre for race fuel, you want to make sure it’s running to its full potential.

You need to make sure you have all the ingredients right to achieve maximum horsepower. Too much or not enough fuel can jeopardise your race weekend in a split second.

IS THE ART OF KZ FOR ME?

The Art of KZ is not for you if:

Not for you if… You don’t test

This program teaches you how to drive a shifter kart fast. But if you aren’t willing to get out on track and test what you have learnt, it’s hard to see gains in a qualifying session or a final if you aren’t practicing. Our Shifter Program isn’t for you if you think you can turn up on race day and demand results without putting in the homework.

Not for you if… You always blame your equipment

Now unless you have a 10 year old chassis with an old shifter engine, it’s likely your driving can be improved. Shifter driving has more elements to it than TAG racing. Four-wheel braking, standing starts, different race lines and making sure your carburation is on song as this is a critical element to gaining more horsepower. Rather than pointing the finger, you investigate ways you can maximise what you have underneath you.

Not for you if… You’re beating Danny Formal

Not many racers are good enough to beat Danny, but if you are one of the few that have beaten him in recent years, then this program likely isn’t for you. As you would already have the knowledge, experience, and expertise available to you to be right at front of the field.

If you’re a driver that tries something once and when it doesn’t work, moves onto the next shiny object rather than finding a solution, then this program might not be for you.

The truth is, when you apply these techniques in the right way for YOUR racing, they work…

Danny Formal is a 3 x winner of the SKUSA SuperNats, a winner of the ROK to Rio & Florida Winter Tour Champion all in the shifter category. So, what he’s teaching is proven! Ask Sergio Perez, former KZ World Champion Marijn Kremers and former Formula One driver Rubens Barrichello what they think of Formal, as he has beaten these champions in the shifter category.

The only thing standing between stagnation and success is your ability to stay coachable and doing the work.

The Art of KZ is for you if:

You’re new to shifter racing

If you develop bad habits, they are hard to break. By developing the right technique from day one, your progression will be more rapid and less mistakes will creep in. Remember, shifter racing is the pinnacle of karting. So, if you want to be the best, you need to learn from the best!

You want to transition into Car Racing

Shifter racing is a stepping stone and training tool for aspiring formula car racers. We see many Formula One drivers step back into shifter karting to hone their skills, train and remain sharp. By learning how to driver a shifter kart properly, you’re giving yourself a greater opportunity of success once you step into a formula car.

You want to be better

There’s a difference between wanting something and expecting something. Racers who want to improve don’t look for excuses, they look to experts for guidance on how they can be better themselves. This is what we can offer you in our Shifter Program, the knowledge from a world class driver right in the palm of your hand.

So...

If you’re a driver who wants to learn the correct techniques (from day one) … you need to be a part of our Shifter Program.

If you’re unsure who to listen to at your local kart track, who are guessing more than you… you need to be a part of our Shifter Program.

If you’ve never driven a shifter kart before… you need to be a part of our Shifter Program.

If you want to win the biggest shifter races in the World… you need to be a part of our Shifter Program.

And…

If you want the opportunity to learn from one of the world’s best shifter drivers & give yourself a greater chance of success… you need to be a part of our Shifter Program.

Join us inside our 5 episode program, designed to make your entry into shifter karting as quick as possible.

TESTIMONIALS

Who is Danny Formal & how can he help me drive a Shifter Kart?

Danny Formal is arguably the best shifter driver North America has seen winning the SKUSA SuperNats on three separate occasions beating current & former F1 drivers in that time. Formal has won in both KZ and ROK shifter, showing his versatility to adapt to different shifter engines and chassis’. The knowledge obtained in our Art of KZ Programgives drivers the best opportunity of being competitive. The5-episode instructional programis accessible anytime. Members will get access to our video database as well as diagrams & worksheets to print & podcasts from Danny & Kart Class founder David Sera who’s an Australian Champion in the KZ category in his own right.

I’ve just got purchased the latest KZ chassis from…………., but I’m still off the pace. How is that possible?

Just because you brought the latest chassis, doesn’t mean that entitles you to be at the front of the field. The drivers in this position are super-efficient in the braking zones, changing in the ideal rev range, getting the best launch off the start line and have the carburation perfect to maximise their engine performance.

I don’t yet have a shifter kart, is this program suitable?

If you currently compete in TAG, X30, Rotax competition and are looking to transition in shifter racing, this will be a good head start for newcomers into the category. If you don’t have a kart yet, or are still in the junior ranks, it might be best to wait until you have more experience in karting.

We guarantee that the information inside our program has seen drivers win races across the World in shifter racing, beating current & former Formula 1 drivers.  With the help of our supportive coaches and community, we want to see you improve your shifter driving.
